Formed in 1990, the Derwent Valley Horse Riders Association is a friendly and enthusiastic horse riding club that combines an interest in horses with social and informative activities.
 â€‹
In conjunction with the Derwent Pony Club we have developed equestrian facilities at Kensington Park in New Norfolk, which at present offers an 70m x 50m all-weather arena, a 40m x 40m grass arena, round yard, 20+ yards, spectator area with picnic tables, plenty of float parking space, excellent clubrooms, and agility course. We are also the New Norfolk stop over point for the Tasmanian Trail.

Our club events are many and varied and we try hard to satisfy all members equestrian interests.

RALLIES:

We generally hold rallies on the third Sunday of each month at our grounds, offering shared and group lessons in flat and poles/showjumping with qualified EA NCAS coaches. Groups are arranged according to you and your horses' experience level and we try to have no more than three in a lesson to maximise the learning opportunity.

TRAIL RIDES: We organise a trail ride on the fourth weekend of each month. We believe in setting a pace that is comfortable for everyone's different experience levels. Most rides have enough numbers to be able to split into two groups if necessary to cater for those who want to go a bit faster and those who want to enjoy it at a more leisurely pace.

TRAIL WEEKENDS:

Once or twice a year (or more if you are keen!) we organise a weekend away with the horses to places like Stonehenge (no longer available sadly), Fonthill and Valmont Farms, with plans to explore other places in the near future!

And there is plenty more that we like to do!
